SINGAPORE: It all started with a friend saying there is no good Mexican restaurant making good Chimichanga, and the search began. When we first came across Chimichanga Mexican Restaurant Bar Singapore, we figured they must be so good at it that they named themselves after the dish.

For those who do not know what Chimichanga is, it is basically a deep-fried burrito that is common in Tex-Mex and other Southwestern U.S. cuisine.

The restaurant is located in the heart of Little India. One will be least expect to find a Mexican restaurant here. Chimichanga didn't disappoint. Its trendy casual vibes just make me happy the moment I walked in. We dived straight into the menu and the glutton in me was unleashed!

Usually, I will not have loaded nachos as they will quickly fill my stomach. This limits what I can have for dinner. But, it turned out to be great! Topped with beef, pico de gallo, creamy queso, crema and salsa verde over a bed of tortilla chips, it just leaves me licking my fingers.

I don't really know what oysters got to do with Mexican food. Maybe it's because of tabasco sauce. To my surprise, they are so good that I think this is the best I can recall in my recent past. I love oysters but I would really love them to be cleaned and properly shucked. A properly prepared oyster will allow you to slurp the salty goodness easily. You can get half a dozen at $26. However, there is a Monday promotion which is $9.90 for 4. Now...I am in oyster heaven. The promotion is while stocks last.

No visit to a Mexican restaurant is complete without tacos and I am a big fan of fish tacos. For $11, you will get 3 Boraccho Fish Tacos. The golden paprika beer-battered fish, served over a bed of slaw, topped with a drizzle of Sriracha mayo in a warm tortilla.

If fish is not your thing, go for the Carne Asada Tacos. For $12, you will get nicely marinated flash-fried steak strips with creamy refried beans, crunchy red onions and cilantro. YUMMY!

For those who are into the keto diet and simply don't like corn or wheat tortilla, their Carne Asada Rib-Eye Steak is worth mentioning! For $25, it is served with guacamole and tortilla chips.
